Abstract
Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah kemampuan representasi. Namun, fakta menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih kurang dalam kemampuan representasi matematis. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang dapat memasilitasi siswa dalam merepresentasikan ide- ide matematis secara lebih efektif. Model discovery learning dapat menjadi alternatif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 45 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2024/2025 sebanyak 86 siswa yang terdistribusi ke dalam 3 kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 8.1 sebanyak 30 orang dan kelas 8.2 sebanyak 30 orang yang terpilih dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian ini berupa data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari tes kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dengan α = 0,05, diperoleh bahwa peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti model discovery learning lebih tinggi daripada peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti model discovery learning. Dengan demikian, model discovery leaning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Kata Kunci: discovery learning, kemampuan representasi, pengaruh One of the abilities that students must have in learning mathematics is representation ability. However, fact show that students are still lacking in mathematical representation skills. Therefore, a learning model that can facilitate students in representing mathematical ideas more effectively is needed. The discovery learning model can be an alternative in improving mathematical representation skills. This pseudo-experimental research aims to determine the effect of discovery learning model on students' mathematical representation ability. The population of this study were all VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 45 Bandar Lampung in the 2024/2025 academic year as many as 86 students distributed into 3 classes. The samples of this study were class 8.1 students as many as 30 people and class 8.2 as many as 30 people selected by purpusive random sampling technique. This study used a pretest-posttest control group design. The data of this research is quantitative data obtained from the test of students' mathematical representation ability. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using t-test with α=0.05, it was found that the improvement of mathematical representation ability of students who followed the discovery learning model was higher than the improvement of mathematical representation ability of students who followed the discovery learning model. Thus, the discovery learning model has an effect on students' mathematical representation ability. Keyword: discovery learning, effect, mathematical representation
