Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam pendidikan tinggi, termasuk pemanfaatan ChatGPT oleh mahasiswa. ChatGPT, sebagai platform kecerdasan buatan atau AI (Artificial Intelligence) berbasis teks, dimanfaatkan untuk membantu menyelesaikan tugas akademik seperti mencari informasi, memahami materi, dan menyusun teks. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena meningkatnya ketergantungan mahasiswa terhadap ChatGPT dalam menyelesaikan tugas kuliah, yang menimbulkan pertanyaan tentang efektivitas dan dampaknya terhadap hasil pembelajaran mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat efektivitas pemanfaatan ChatGPT terhadap pengerjaan tugas mata kuliah pada mahasiswa Jurusan Sosiologi Universitas Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain kausal. Data diperoleh melalui penyebaran angket kepada 85 mahasiswa aktif yang dipilih secara acak, dan dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana melalui SPSS versi 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara tingkat efektivitas pemanfaatan ChatGPT terhadap pengerjaan tugas mata kuliah, dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 0,542 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Artinya, 54,2% variasi dalam pengerjaan tugas dipengaruhi oleh efektivitas penggunaan ChatGPT. Mahasiswa yang menggunakan ChatGPT secara efektif cenderung menyelesaikan tugas lebih cepat dan memahami materi dengan lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, institusi pendidikan perlu memberikan arahan dan edukasi terkait etika akademik agar penggunaan teknologi mendukung proses belajar tanpa mengurangi integritas akademik. ChatGPT, as a text- based artificial intelligence (AI) platform, is used to assist in completing academic tasks such as searching for information, understanding materials, and composing texts. This research was conducted due to the increasing dependence of students on ChatGPT in completing their coursework, raising questions about its effectiveness and its impact on student learning outcomes in higher education. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of the effectiveness level of ChatGPT utilization on coursework completion among students of the Sociology Department at the University of Lampung. This study employs a quantitative approach with a causal design. Data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires to 85 randomly selected active students and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results show a positive and significant influence between the effectiveness of ChatGPT utilization and coursework completion, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.421 and a significance value of 0.000. This means that 42.1% of the variation in coursework completion is influenced by the effectiveness of ChatGPT use. Students who use ChatGPT effectively tend to complete assignments more quickly and better understand the material. Therefore, educational institutions need to provide guidance and education related to academic ethics so that the use of technology supports the learning process without diminishing academic integrity.
