Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika yang disebabkan oleh rendahnya pemahaman membaca peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pemahaman membaca dan pemecahan soal cerita matematika peserta didik kelas V SD N 5 Metro pusat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas V SD N 5 Metro Pusat yang berjumlah 55 peserta didik. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah sampling jenuh. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket pemahaman membaca dan tes pemecahan soal cerita matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara pemahaman membaca terhadap pemecahan soal cerita matematika peserta didik kelas V SD N 5 Metro pusat dengan kategori rendah. Kata Kunci: matematika, pemahaman membaca, soal cerita The problem in this study was based on the low ability of students to solve mathematical word problems, which was caused by their poor reading comprehension. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between reading comprehension and the ability to solve mathematical word problems among fifth-grade students at SD N 5 Metro Pusat. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population in this study consisted of all fifth-grade students at SD N 5 Metro Pusat, totaling 55 students. The sampling technique used total sampling. The data collection techniques included a reading comprehension questionnaire and a mathematical word problem-solving test. The results of the study showed a significant positive relationship between reading comprehension and mathematical word problem- solving ability among the fifth-grade students at SD N 5 Metro Pusat, with a low correlation category.
