Kata Kunci: Cutibacterium acnes, Emulgel, Rhizophora apiculata, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis Background: Infections of the skin are commonly found in tropical regions due to the proliferation of pathogenic microbes such as Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The increasing bacterial resistance to antibiotics necessitates the search for alternative antimicrobial agents derived from natural sources. The oil mangrove plant (Rhizophora apiculata) is known to contain secondary metabolites with potential antibacterial properties. Emulgel was chosen as the topical dosage form because it is capable of enhancing the stability, penetration, and effectiveness of the active substance release in treating skin infections. Methods: The research method employed was a laboratory experimental study. The oil mangrove stem bark sample was macerated using 96% ethanol and subsequently formulated into an emulgel, resulting in six formulations: F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%), F3 (2%), F4 (3%), F5 (4%), and F6 (5%). The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the agar well diffusion method, and the MIC and MBC tests were also performed. Result: The emulgel ethanol extract of bark of Rhizophora apiculata exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Cutibacterium acnes in treatment groups P1–P6, all of which were categorized as strong, with the MIC observed in group P5 (4%) and no MBC observed. In contrast, the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis was categorized as weak in groups P1–P2, moderate in groups P3–P5, and strong in group P6, with the MIC observed in group P6 (5%) and no MBC observed. Conclusion: The emulgel ethanol extract of bark of Rhizophora apiculata has been proven to have antibacterial activity and an MIC, but has not been proven to have an MBC against Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Key Words: Cutibacterium acnes, Emulgel, Rhizophora apiculata, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis
