Masyarakat dalam tindakannya menghadapi gempa bumi tidak dapat hadir begitu saja, tindakan ini berakar dari persepsi terhadap risiko tersebut. Mengingat gempa bumi berpotensi besar merusak kehidupan, menyebabkan banyak kerugian hingga penderitaan yang dirasakan oleh masyarakat. Persepsi menjadi penting bagi masyarakat dalam mengambil langkah atau bertindak menghadapi risiko bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat terhadap potensi bencana gempa bumi dan mitigasi bencana gempa bumi di Kecamatan Teluk Betung Timur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kuantitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan teknik analisis data berupa skoring dan persentase. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dan dokumentasi dengan sampel berjumlah 100 responden yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase pencapaian skor maksimum persepsi terhadap potensi bencana gempa bumi di Kecamatan Teluk Betung Timur sebesar 75,31% dan termasuk dalam kategori persepsi baik. Ditemukan juga persentase pencapaian skor maksimum persepsi terhadap mitigasi bencana gempa bumi di Kecamatan Teluk Betung Timur sebesar 73,99% dan termasuk dalam kategori persepsi baik. Penelitian ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya peningkatan kesadaran dan keterlibatan masyarakat serta peran pemerintah dalam mitigasi bencana gempa bumi. Given that earthquakes have the potential to destroy lives, cause significant losses, and inflict suffering on the community, perception plays an important role in the steps taken by the community to deal with disaster risks. The purpose of this study is to determine community perceptions of earthquake disaster potential and earthquake disaster mitigation at Teluk Betung Timur subdistrict. The research method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method with data analysis techniques in the form of scoring and percentages. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation with a sample size of 100 respondents taken using simple random sampling techniques. The results of the study show that the percentage of maximum scores achieved for the perception of earthquake disaster potential in Teluk Betung Timur subdistrict was 75.31%, which is classified as a good perception. It was also found that the percentage of maximum scores achieved for the perception of earthquake disaster mitigation in Teluk Betung Timur subdistrict was 73.99%, which is also classified as a good perception. This study highlights the importance of increasing public awareness and involvement, as well as the role of the government in earthquake disaster mitigation.
