Abstract

Salah satu upaya pembangunan ekonomi desa adalah pembentukan Koperasi Merah Putih sebagai lembaga ekonomi kolektif. Namun, kehadiran koperasi sebagai struktur sosial baru memunculkan beragam respon di tengah masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis respon masyarakat Desa Hanura, Kecamatan Teluk Pandan, Kabupaten Pesawaran, Lampung, terhadap pembentukan Koperasi Merah Putih dengan menggunakan perspektif teori Robert K. Merton. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya respon masyarakat yang beragam, mulai dari antusias dan mendukung hingga ragu dan skeptis. Perbedaan respon dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman masa lalu, tingkat pemahaman, dan kepercayaan masyarakat. Dalam perspektif Merton, koperasi memiliki fungsi manifes sebagai sarana peningkatan ekonomi desa, sekaligus fungsi laten dan potensi disfungsi. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa koperasi berpotensi memberdayakan ekonomi desa apabila dikelola secara transparan dan partisipatif. Kata kunci: respon masyarakat, Koperasi Merah Putih, pembangunan desa. One effort to promote the rural economy is the establishment of the Koperasi Merah Putih as a collective economic institution. However, as a new social structure, the cooperative has generated diverse community responses. This study analyzes community responses in Hanura Village, Teluk Pandan Sub-district, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung, to the establishment of the Koperasi Merah Putih using Robert K. Merton’s theoretical perspective. This research employs a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate varied community responses, ranging from supportive to skeptical attitudes. These differences are influenced by past experiences, levels of understanding, and public trust. From a Mertonian perspective, the cooperative serves a manifest economic function while also generating latent functions and potential dysfunctions. The study concludes that the cooperative can empower the rural economy if managed transparently and participatively. Keywords: community response, Koperasi Merah Putih, rural development.
