Abstract

Menurunnya kepercayaan publik terhadap aparat penegak hukum merupakan isu penting yang perlu dikaji secara mendalam, khususnya dari perspektif sosial, karena kepercayaan tidak hanya ditentukan oleh kinerja formal lembaga, tetapi juga oleh pengalaman, interaksi, dan konstruksi sosial yang berkembang dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah dan menganalisis faktor-faktor sosiologis yang membentuk kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap institusi kepolisian di Kota Metro, Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi terhadap masyarakat serta aparat kepolisian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang membentuk kepercayaan masyarakat adalah pengalaman interaksi langsung, pengaruh media, nilai dan norma sosial, serta tingkat pendidikan dan pemahaman hukum. Proses pembentukan kepercayaan berlangsung melalui mekanisme konstruksi sosial, yang meliputi eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi, yang secara bersama-sama membentuk persepsi, penilaian, dan sikap masyarakat terhadap institusi kepolisian. Kata Kunci: institusi kepolisian, kepercayaan masyarakat The decline in public trust in law enforcement is an important issue that requires in-depth study, particularly from a social perspective, because trust is not only determined by the formal performance of the institution, but also by experiences, interactions, and social constructions that develop in community life. This study aims to examine and analyze the sociological factors that shape public trust in the police institution in Metro City, Lampung Province. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were obtained through observation, indepth interviews, and documentation of the community and police officers. The results show that the factors that shape public trust are direct interaction experiences, media influence, social values and norms, as well as education levels and legal understanding. The process of trust formation occurs through social construction mechanisms, which include externalization, objectivation, and internalization, which together shape public perceptions, assessments, and attitudes toward the police institution.
