Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

This study analyzes idioms found in the song lyrics of the French singer Zaz. It aims to identify the types of idioms used, to examine their literal and idiomatic meanings through a semantic approach, and to explore their implications for teaching French as a foreign language. This research adopts a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The data consist of idioms identified in the song lyrics taken from six albums by Zaz. The analysis is based on Maurice Gross’s classification of fixed expressions, distinguishing verbal, adverbial, nominal, and adjectival idioms, and applies componential semantic analysis. The results show that 63 idioms were identified, with verbal idioms being the most dominant. Idiomatic meaning is highly dependent on context, song themes, and emotional dimensions. From a pedagogical perspective, Zaz’s songs serve as authentic and relevant materials to facilitate the understanding of figurative meaning, enrich learners’ vocabulary, and develop their cultural competence.
