Students must improve their ability in reading comprehension, so they can get information from the text.According to the goal, the students’ ability in reading comprehension is still not from the goal being expected. Many students have difficulties in comprehending the reading text. The objective of this research was to find out whether there is significant increase in students’ reading comprehension achievement of narrative and recount texts taught through Schema Activation Strategy. The samples of the research were the first year students of SMAN YP Unila Bandar Lampung in the year 2010/2011. The result of the test shows that there was a significant increase from pre-test to post-test after being taught through Schema Activation Strategy. The increase is from 69.59 up to 76.76. The gain is 7.162. The result of the computation shows that the value of two tailed significance was 0.000. This means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected since 0.000 < 0.05. This proves that the treatments given by the researcher had a positive effect on the students’ achievement; Schema Activation Strategy improved students’ reading comprehension achievement of narrative and recount texts.
