Many experts have proposed that an understanding of personality type can help teachers explain why students approach tasks differently: some are successful, while some fail to participate in class activities. The objectives of this research are (1) to find out the significant difference between students? personality type and their speaking ability and (2) to see whether extravert personality is better than introvert in speaking ability. The researcher conducted the research at SMA N 1 Kalirejo at the second grade students. The study uses Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) form-A that consist of 23 items as a reliable and validity instruments which identify the students? personality types. The current study aims at discovering the relationship between learner personality type and their speaking ability. Students were classified on the basis of their self reported preferences. The result of data indicated that there is only one type showing significant impact across speaking ability was the extravert personality type. Generally, extraversion students had the highest score 75.87. Also in all aspect of speaking they dominated the class with pronunciation score 73.89, fluency 74.67, and comprehension 76.00. Based on the result of data analysis, extravert personality type shows the best mastery in speaking. Every teacher is suggested to motivate and encourage the students to practice speaking a lot. Also the teacher should pay more attention to the introvert and middle type to practice and encourage them to have a motivation in practice a lot. } }
