Rongga mulut merupakan pintu gerbang masuknya berbagai jenis mikroorganisme.  Sebagai sistem pertahanan tubuh, flora normal rongga mulut berperan dalam mencegah masuknya mikroorganisme patogen ke dalam tubuh. Individu berusia dewasa dan usia lanjut memiliki kondisi rongga mulut yang berbeda. Kondisi tersebut dipengaruhi oleh aliran saliva, produksi saliva, fungsi saliva, dan riwayat penggunaan obat termasuk antibiotik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan jumlah koloni flora norma rongga mulut pada usia lanjut dan dewasa.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik comparative dengan pendekatan cross sectional yang dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2015-Januari 2016 di Puskesmas Rawat Inap Way Kandis Kecamatan Tanjung Senang dan terhadap mahasiswa/i angkatan 2012 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung. Sampel penelitian diambil dari usapan lidah dari usia lanjut sebanyak 14 orang dan individu dewasa sebanyak 14 orang, diambil dengan metode consecutive sampling. Selanjutnya, sampel akan ditanam pada media Nutrien Agar (NA), diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu 370C. Koloni yang tumbuh dihitung dengan metode plate count. Hasil penelitian didapatkan jumlah koloni flora normal rongga mulut kelompok usia dewasa didapatkan nilai rerata yaitu 224,64, kelompok usia lanjut didapatkan nilai rerata yaitu 154,85. Berdasarkan hasil analisis t-test tidak berpasangan didapatkan p-value sebesar 0,001, berarti p> 0,05 berarti terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara jumlah koloni flora normal rongga mulut antara usia lanjut dan dewasa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara jumlah flora normal rongga mulut pada usia lanjut dan dewasa, dengan jumlah flora normal rongga mulut pada usia dewasa lebih banyak dari jumlah flora normal rongga mulut usia lanjut.

ABSTRACT
The oral cavity is a port de entry of various types of microorganisms. As the body's defense system, the normal flora of the oral cavity play a role in preventing the entry of pathogenic microorganisms into the body. Individuals aged adults and the elderly have different oral conditions. This condition is based on a system of production, flow and function of saliva is still good and medication include antibiotics. This is a comparative analytical research with cross sectional study that was conducted in November 2015-January 2016 at the Puskesmas Rawat Inap Way Kandis Kecamatan and the student of Medical Faculty of Lampung Universty on 2012 class. The sample was taken from tongue swab of 14 elderly and adult individuals as many as 14 people, taken with consecutive sampling method. Then, samples was planted on Nutrien Agar (NA) and being incubated for 24 hours at 370C. The growing colony counted using plate count method. The result showed adult age group obtained a mean value is 224,64, the age group that is older obtained a mean value of 154,85. Based on the analysis unpaired t-test was obtained p-value of 0.001, means p> 0.05, so that there is a difference in the number of colonies of the normal flora of the oral cavity between the elderly and adults. In conclusion, there is a differences between the amount of oral normal flora colony on adults and elderly. Which is on adult is higher than on elderly.
