Jenis pipa yang banyak dipakai adalah pipa baja. Salah satu persoalan utama pada pipa adalah korosi. Pada penelitian ini, dikembangakan pipa PVC berpenguat serat ijuk, sebagai jawaban atas pesoalan tersebut. Pipa PVC diberi penguat serat ijuk dengan matriks paduan aspal semen dan matriks epoxy. Untuk matriks paduan aspal semen sudut pelilitan yang digunakan sebesar 550 dan untuk matriks epoxy sudut pelilitan sebesar 900. Teknik pelilitan menggunakan Filament Winding Technique (Teknik Pelilitan Serat). Pengujian yang dilakukan menggunakan Split-Disk Technique (ASTM D2290). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan pada spesimen pipa berpenguat serat ijuk matriks paduan aspal semen mengalami penurunan pressure limit (tekanan batas) dan kekuatan tarik hoop. Pada spesimen pipa berpenguat serat ijuk matriks epoxy, nilai pressure limit mengalami peningkatan tetapi kekuatan tarik hoop mengalami penurunan. Penurunan kekuatan tarik hoop ini disebabkan antara lain karena terjadinya degradasi PVC. Pada spesimen bermatriks paduan aspal semen kekuatan tarik ijuk tidak teraplikasi karena pemilihan pengujian yang tidak tepat, tidak adanya perlakuan ijuk sebelum dililitkan, dan proses pelilitan yang kurang tepat. ABSTRACT Pipe is a contruction component that commonly use in industry for fluid distribution. Steel pipe is the kind of pipe that commonly used in indusrty. Corrosion is one of the many main pipe problem. In this research, developed PVC pipe reinforced arenga pinnata merr fiber as an answer for this problem. PVC pipe was gived reinforced arenga pinnata merr fiber with 2 matrix is combine of asphalt – cement and epoxy resin. The winding angle of this research that is used for combine asphalt-cement matrix is 550 and for epoxy resin as matrix used 900. In this research uses ‘‘filament winding technique’’. The experimental has been done with split-disk technique (ASTM D2290). The results of experimental shows decreasing pressure limit and hoop tensile strength of the specimen reinforced arenga pinnata merr fiber with combine asphalt-cement as matrix. The value of pressure limit for specimen reinforced arenga pinnata merr fiber with epoxy resin as matrix increases but the hoop tensille strength decreases. This decreasing of tensile strength hoop is caused by degradation PVC. This matrix specimen combined apshalt-cement has tensile strength can’t be applicated because selected experimental isn’t appropriate, cause there is no behave to arenga pinnata merr fiber before filament wound, and the process filament wound isn’t appropriate.
