This research is a quantitative research which used one group pretest-posttest design. This research took the students of the Second Grade of Lintas Minat Class of SMAN 1 Metro as the samples. The class consisted of 22 students who were learning English as a complementary lesson in the Lintas Minat Class. The research was conducted on May 16 to May 23, 2016 in three meetings. The result of the research showed that there was improvement of the students’ writing ability after being introduced with self-correction. It could be seen by looking at the gain of the students’ score after doing the posttest. The gain of the mean score was 4.5, from 69.8 at the pretest, to 74.3 at the posttest. The aspect of writing which was affected the most by self-correction was language use. It could be seen by looking at the percentage of the students’ scores improvement on each aspect of writing. Then, it could be concluded that self-correction gave positive impact to the students’ writing skill. There is statistically significant improvement of the students’ writing ability after being taught by self-correction. It could be seen by looking at the analysis of the students’ scores. Besides, the aspect of writing which is improved the most is language use.
