%X Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui usaha-usaha apakah yang dilakukan nelayan untuk meningkatkan pendapatannya, terutama pada musim badai atau paceklik. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada masyarakat nelayan di Desa Pasar Kecamatan Pulau Pisang Kabupaten Pesisir Barat. Tipe penelitian ini adalah  deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 57 responden. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner, observasi, wawancara, pengumpulan data sekunder, dan studi pustaka. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis statistik melalui program pengolah data statistik, yaitu SPSS. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa nelayan di Desa Pasar pada umumnya melakukan pekerjaan alternatif di luar perikanan atau disversifikasi pekerjaan. Namun usaha-usaha tersebut masih sangat terbatas. Dalam upaya meningkatkan pendapatan nelayan juga melibatkan anak dan istrinya. Upaya peningkatan pendapatan di sektor perikanan, pemerintah juga memberikan bantuan berupa perahu viber dan pembuatan rumpon. Dari hasil penelitian ini juga diketahui bahwa pengeluaran nelayan lebih rendah dibandingkan jumlah pendapatan, terlebih setelah mereka melakukan pekerjaan alternatif diluar sektor perikanan.

EFFORTS TO INCREASE FISHERMEN FAMILY INCOME
(A Study in Pasar Village-Pulau Pisang Subdistrict- Pesisir Barat District)

This study aims to determine what efforts are made by fishermen to increase their family income, especially during hurricane or famine season. This research was conducted on the fishermen community in Pasar Village of Pulau Pisang Subdistrict , Pesisir Barat District. This is a descriptive research with quantitative approach. The sample of this research consisted of 57 respondents. The data collection techniques in this research was done using questionnaires, observations, interviews, secondary data collection, and literature study. The data analysis was done by means of statistical analysis technique through statistical data processing program, that is SPSS. Based on the results of the research, the fishermen in Pasar Village, in general they searched for alternative jobs outside the fishery (job diverification). However, these efforts were still very limited. In an effort to increase the family income, the fishermen also involved their children and wives. Among the efforts to increase income in the fisheries sector, the government has also provided assistance in the form of viber boats and making FADs. From the results of this research, it can be determined that the expenditure of fishermen was lower than the amount of income, especially after they searched for alternative jobs outside the fishery sector.
