Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana keterkaitan atau pengaruh Leverage Keuangan terhadap profitabilitas pada perusahaan-perusahaan asuransi jiwa yang terdaftar di BEI. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah pengukuran rasio yang terdiri dari Leverage keuangan dengan menggunakan Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), rasio profitabilitas dengan menggunakan Return on Equity (ROE), analisis linier berganda, analisis Regresi dengan Dummy Variable, determinasi, analisis uji f dan analisis uji-t .
Hasil dari penlitian ini menunjukkan bahwa selama Periode 2010-2014, tingkat Leverage keuangan dan profitabilitas beberapa sampel perusahaan mengalami fluktuasi. Dalam analisis regresi linier berganda yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh yang positif antara Leverage keuangan terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan dan terdapat perbedaan yang positif dan signifikan terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan milik swasta dan milik lainnya, dan disarankan perusahaan perlu mempertimbangkan keefektifitasan dan efesiensi dari hutang dalam menghasilkan profit bagi perusahaan.

ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF FINANCIAL LEVERAGE AGAINST PROFITABILITY ON LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES LISTED ON BEI

This study aims to determine how the relevance or influence of Financial Leverage on profitability at life insurance companies listed on the Stock Exchange. The analytical method used is a ratio measurement consisting of financial leverage by using Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), profitability ratio by using Return on Equity (ROE), Multiple linear analysis, Regression analysis with Dummy Variable, determination, f-test analysis and t-test analysis.
The results of this study indicate that during the Period 2010-2014, the level of financial leverage and profitability of several sample companies fluctuated. In multiple linear regression analysis conducted results obtained that there is no positive influence between financial leverage to corporate profitability and there is a positive and significant difference to the profitability of private-owned companies and other property, and suggested the company needs to consider the effectiveness and efficiency of the debt in generating profit for the company.
