Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pewarisan nilai budaya melalui simbol gelar adat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teori struktural fungsional dan teori simbol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa seseorang yang mempunyai gelar adat memiliki peran di kelompok masyarakat Lampung Pepadun. Simbol dalam gelar adat ini diketahui dari nama gelar adat yang didapatkan seseorang yang bergelar adat Suttan. Gelar adat tersebut masih berkaitan dengan gelar adat yang dimiliki keluarga terdahulu dan hal inilah yang membuat penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pewarisan sebuah gelar adat yang turun temurun terjadi dalam garis keluarganya. Kata Kunci: Begawi Cakak Pepadun, Gelar Adat, Teori Simbol, Teori Struktural Fungsional    AN INHERITANCE OF CULTURAL VALUE THROUGH THE SYMBOL OF  CUSTOMARY TITTLE LAMPUNG BUAY NUNYAI  (Study in Kotabumi Ilir District, Kotabumi, North Lampung)    Begawi Cakak Pepadun is a process to take a custom tittle. Additionally, the  purpose of the ceremony is to increase one’s customary status which is Suttan as  the highest status. The purpose of the research is to find out and to analyze the  inheritancen of cultural values through customary symbol tittle. This research  used the qualitative approaches with the functional structural theory and symbol  theory and this research also used case study as its method. The result of this  research showed that someone who has customary tittle has a certain role in the  Lampung Pepadun society. The non verbal symbol of this customary tittle is  obtained from the Suttan tittle as his customary tittle. That customary tittle is still  related to the customary tittle of his ancestors and because of that this research  showed us that the inheritance of a customary tittle indeed occur in their heirs  Key word: Begawi Cakak Pepadun, The tittle of customary, Symbol Theory,  Functional Structural Theory
