abstract: Muslimah bercadar dalam pergaulan sosial akan menghadapi berbagai kendala komunikasi, karena keterbatasan mereka untuk lebih mudah di kenali, salah satunya karena wajah mereka tertutup. Dalam pergaulan sehari-hari akan mengalami kendala dikarenakan penampilan mereka yang lain daripada yang lain. Hal-hal tersebut tentu memerlukan upaya muslimah bercadar untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan sekitar yang tidak/belum bercadar. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui seorang muslimah memilih menggunakan cadar, cara mempertahankannya serta cara mereka menyesuaikan diri baik dengan keluarga besarnya, lingkungan pekerjaan dan masyarakat lainnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teori yang digunakan adalah Teori Self Disclousure dan Teori Penetrasi Sosial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui keterbukaan diri, muslimah bercadar lebih mudah untuk menyesuaikan diri terhadap orang lain. Memulai membuka diri terlebih dahulu akan lebih mempermudah dalam menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungannya dan melalui penetrasi sosial menggerakkan sebuah komunikasi menjadi lebih dalam dan berproses dalam berhubungan dengan orang lain.

Kata Kunci : Muslimah, Cadar, Self Disclousure.



ABSTRACT

Muslim veiled women in social circles will face various communication constraints, because of their limitations to be more easily recognized, one of them because their faces are closed. In the daily intercourse will experience obstacles due to their appearance other than others. These things would require a veiled Muslim effort to adjust to the environment that is not / not yet veiled. This study was conducted to find out that a Muslim chooses to use the veil, how to defend it and how they adapt well to their extended family, work environment and other communities. The research method used is qualitative with phenomenology approach. Theories used are Self Disclousure Theory and Social Penetration Theory. The results of this study indicate that through self-disclosure, the Muslim veil is easier to adapt to others. Starting out first will make it easier to adapt to the environment and through social penetration to move a communication deeper and in the process of dealing with others.
