%A 0923011060 SOLAH %T INCREASING STUDENT?S ACTIVITY AND WRITING ABILITY IN ENGLISH SIMPLE SENTENCES THROUGH CHAIN CARD GAME IN CLASS VIII AT SMP NEGERI 3 PRINGSEWU PENINGKATAN AKTIVITAS BELAJAR DAN KEMAMPUAN SISWA DALAM MENULIS KALIMAT BAHASA INGGRIS SEDERHANA MELALUI CHAIN CARD GAME PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 3 PRINGSEWU %X The objetives of the research are to analyze: (1). The design of the lesson plan, (2). The implementation of lesson plan which consists are scoring of teacher?s and student?s activity; (3) Evaluation system; (4) The increase of student?s ability in writing of English simple sentences through Chain Card Game. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Pringsewu. The research was conducted by using classroom action research which consist of three cycles. Cycle I was conducted through grouping which consisted of 4 students based on gender, by using white chain card game, cycle II by grouping student based on the different students academic ability,by using the same card, and cycle III used chain card game media by defferent colour in the same as group at the second cycle. Technique of collecting data by using observation and test, and was conducted by quantitative descriptive.. The result of research are: (1) The syntax of lesson plan designed through game media consists three steps; i.e: beginning, main activity and closing; (2). Students activity in word and phrase arrangement learning through chain card game has increased, writing and discussing the sentense of the game result, making conclution and resume, (3). Evaluation system used essay test by random word / phrase arrangement become a good sentence, (4). The student?s ability of class VIII.2 at the first cycle who got 65 or more was 62%, second cycle was 91%, and third cycle was 100%. The student?s ability of class VIII.3 at the first cycle who got 65 or more was 78%, second and third cycle was 100%. Key words: chain card game, learning activity, writing ability. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis (1) Desain Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, (2) Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, yang di dalamnya terdapat penilaian kinerja guru dan aktivitas belajar siswa, (3) Sistem evaluasi, dan (4) Peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis kalimat Bahasa Inggris sederhana melalui media Chain Card Game. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 3 Pringsewu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan (action research). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama tiga siklus. Pada siklus I dengan membentuk kelompok yang terdiri dari 4 siswa berdasarkan jenis kelamin dengan menggunakan media chain card game warna putih, pada siklus II berdasarkan kemampuan akademik siswa yang berbeda dengan menggunakan media yang sama, dan pada siklus III menggunakan media chain card game berwarna. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan tes, serta dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil Penelitian: (1) Sintak Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) disusun dengan media permainan dalam 3 langkah kegiatan, yang meliputi kegiatan awal, inti dan penutup; (2) Aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran menyusun kata/phrase dengan media permainan chain card game meningkat, menuliskan kalimat hasil permainan, mendiskusikan kalimat hasil prmainan bersama kelompok lain, dan membuat kesimpulan dan resume; (3) Sistem evaluasi menggunakan tes dalam bentuk uraian menyusun kata acak menjadi kalimat sederhana. (4). Prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII.2 pada siklus I siswa yang memperoleh nilai ? 65 (62%). Pada siklus II 91% dan siklus III 100%. Prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII.3 pada siklus I yang memperoleh nilai ? 65 (78%), siklus II dan siklus III sebesar 100%.
