description: The purpose of this research was to estimate the structural equation modeling by used  the Weighted Least Squares (WLS) method and calculate the total effect. WLS was  an unbiased estimation and sufficient statistics method which not depend on the data  distribution. The results shown that the parameter estimation of structural equation  modeling could not be done manually because the structural equation modeling were  analyzed simultaneously so to obtain the population covariance (∑( )) which  approach or equal to the sample covariance ( ). Therefore the analysis of structural  equation modeling could only be done by an iterative method, namely Newton- Rapshon through the output LISREL software. The employee’s competency  influenced indirectly to the quality of library facilities in Unila by the intermediary  variable with a total effect of 0.8983.  Keywords: Structural Equation Modeling, Weighted Least Squares (WLS).  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengestimasi model persamaan struktural  menggunakan metode Weighted Least Squares (WLS) dan menghitung pengaruh  total. WLS merupakan metode penduga yang bersifat tak bias dan statistik cukup  serta tidak bergantung pada distribusi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan estimasi  parameter model persamaan struktural tidak dapat dilakukan secara perhitungan  manual karena model persamaan struktural dianalisis secara simultan sehingga  memperoleh kovarian populasi (∑( )) yang mendekati atau sama dengan kovarian  sampel (S). Oleh karenanya analisis model persamaan struktural hanya dapat  dilakukan dengan metode iteratif yaitu dengan Newton-Rapshon melalui software  LISREL. Kompetensi pegawai mempengaruhi kualitas pelayan secara tidak langsung  melalui variabel perantara fasilitas perpustakaan di Unila dengan pengaruh total  sebesarn 0,8983.  Kata Kunci: Model Persamaan Struktural, Weighted Least Squares (WLS).
