This research aimed to study the effect of adding methionine in feed on the growth of cobia in fingerling stage. The experimental design in this study used a complete randomized design with 2 treatment and 3 replications in each treatment. These treatments were the addition of methionine in feeds of 0,15% and 0,35%, also equipped with commercial feed treatment as a comparison. This experiment used 9 tanks 1,5 m3 each and it contained 50 fish for each, with the average body weight 28.09±0.98 grams and reared for 45 days. The result showed that the effect of adding methionine on weight gain, daily growth rate, feed convertion ratio, protein retention and survival rate were not significantly different. However, there was a significant difference in methionine retention. The addition of methionine compared to the commercial feed, treatment showed relatively less performance in fish growth. Key words : cobia fish, methionine, growth.
