"The Fe(II) complex has been synthesized with Schiff base ligands from \r\nsalicylaldehyde and ethylenediamine. The synthesis of Schiff base ligands obtained \r\nsolid yellow crystals with a yield of 86.684 %, for the complex [Fe(L)2]\r\n2+ a solid \r\nbrown crystal is obtained with a yield of 96.739 %. Characterization using UV-Vis \r\nshowed a shift in the maximum wavelength (λmax) in the transition area π→π * from \r\nthe azomethine group base ligand Schiff by 339 nm to 368 nm after being complexed. \r\nThe wavelength shift is caused by the contribution of the free electron pair of the \r\nnitrogen atom to the Schiff base ligand to the metal ion. IR spectrum data of Schiff \r\nbase ligands and complex compounds [Fe(L)2]\r\n2+ appear at wave number 1636.34 cm\r\n-1 \r\nand 1626.68 cm-1 indicating the existence of stretching bond vibrations (>C=N-) \r\nwhich indicate azomethine groups. The band of absorption spectra in complex \r\ncompounds at wave number 457.68 cm-1 and 544.73 cm-1 which shows the existence \r\nof coordination covalent bonds between metal ions and nitrogen atoms (M-N) from \r\nSchiff base ligands and between metal ions and oxygen atoms (M-O) of H2O. the \r\nanalysis was performed using the method of thermal decomposition DTA-TG\r\n(Differentialthermal Analysis - Thermogravimetri) by heating at a temperature range \r\nof 30 °C - 600 °C obtained molecular mass loss of 4H2O 13.31 % in the temperature \r\nrange of 35 - 71.4 oC, SO4 of 14.38 % in the temperature range 71.4 - 276.7 oC, \r\nC9H12N2O of 29.96 % in the temperature range of 276.7 - 389.4 oC, Fe2O3 and \r\nC9H12N2O of 70.29 % in the temperature range 389.4 - 600.4 oC.\r\nKeywords: Schiff base, ethylenediamine, azomethine group Fe(II) complex, \r\nsalicylaldehyde. \r\n\r\nTelah disintesis kompleks Fe(II) dengan ligan basa Schiff dari salisilaldehida dan \r\netilendiamina. Hasil sintesis ligan basa Schiff diperoleh kristal padat berwarna \r\nkuning cerah dengan rendemen 86,684 %, untuk kompleks [Fe(L)2]\r\n2+ diperoleh \r\nkristal padat berwarna coklat dengan rendemen 96,739 %. Karakterisasi \r\nmenggunakan UV-Vis menunjukan adanya pergeseran panjang gelombang \r\nmaksimum (λmaks) pada daerah transisi π→π* dari gugus azometin ligan basa \r\nSchiff sebesar 339 nm menjadi 368 nm setelah dikomplekskan. Pergeseran \r\npanjang gelombang disebabkan oleh sumbangan pasangan elektron bebas dari \r\natom nitrogen ligan basa Schiff kepada ion logam. Data spektrum IR ligan basa \r\nSchiff dan senyawa kompleks [Fe(L)2]\r\n2+ muncul pada bilangan gelombang\r\n1636,34 cm-1\r\ndan 1626,68 cm-1 menunjukan adanya vibrasi ulur ikatan (>C=N-)\r\nyang menunjukan gugus azometin. Spektrum pita serapan pada senyawa \r\nkompleks pada bilangan gelombang 457,68 cm-1\r\ndan 544,73 cm-1\r\nyang \r\nmenunjukan adanya ikatan kovalen koordinasi antara ion logam dengan atom \r\nnitrogen (M–N) dari ligan basa Schiff dan antara ion logam dengan atom oksigen \r\n(M–O) dari H2O. Analisis dekomposisi termal dilakukan menggunakan metode \r\nDTA-TG (Differential Thermal Analysis – Thermogravimetri) dengan pemanasan \r\npada rentang suhu 30 oC - 600 oC. Diperoleh kehilangan massa molekul 4H2O \r\nsebesar 13,31 % pada rentang suhu 35 - 71,4 oC, SO4 sebesar 14,38 % pada \r\nrentang suhu 71,4 - 276,7 oC, C9H12N2O sebesar 29,96 % pada rentang suhu 276,7 \r\n- 389,4 oC, Fe2O3 dan C9H12N2O sebesar 70,29 % pada rentang suhu 389,4 - 600,4 \r\noC.\r\nKata kunci: basa Schiff, etilendiamina, gugus azometin, kompleks Fe(II), \r\nsalisilaldehida.\r\n\r\n"^^ .
