Protein contained in chicken feather waste is keratin. The high stability and low degradation rate of keratin protein become obstacles in the utilization of chicken feather waste. Chicken feather waste is able to be decomposed by keratinolytic microorganism. The aimed of this research was to determine the ability of local isolate bacteria to degrade chicken feather waste and to measure the level of released amino acid after degradation process. The biodegradability test of chicken feather waste was carried out for 12 days. The determination of optimum pH for degradation was observed in variation pH 7.0, 7.5, and 8.0. The released amino acid was measured from the filtrate after the degradation process. The largest percentage of degradation was shown by a bacterial consortium compared with the single isolate. At the optimum pH i.e. pH 7.5, percent degradation of chicken feather waste was 70.04%, and 580.46 ppm of amino acids were released. Limbah bulu ayam berpotensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak, karena memiliki kandungan protein yang tinggi. Protein yang terkandung dalam limbah bulu ayam adalah keratin. Kestabilan yang tinggi dan tingkat degradasi yang rendah dari protein keratin, menjadi kendala dalam pemanfaatan limbah bulu ayam tersebut. Limbah bulu ayam dapat terurai dengan bantuan mikroorganisme keratinolitik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kemampuan bakteri isolat lokal dalam mendegradasi limbah bulu ayam dan mengukur kadar asam amino yang dibebaskan setelah proses degradasi. Uji biodegradabilitas limbah bulu ayam dilakukan selama 12 hari. Penentuan pH optimum degradasi diamati pada variasi pH 7,0, 7,5, dan 8,0. Kadar asam amino yang dibebaskan diukur dari filtrat setelah proses degradasi. Presentase degradasi terbesar ditunjukkan oleh konsorsium bakteri dibandingkan dengan isolat tunggal. Pada pH optimum yaitu pH 7,5, persen degradasi limbah bulu ayam diperoleh sebesar 70,04%, dan sebanyak 580,46 ppm asam amino dibebaskan.
