N2  - This study aims to determine the causes of changes in the livelihoods of oil palm 
farmers into secondary crops farmers in the village of Gedung Pakuon, Baradatu 
District, Way Kanan Regency. The research method used is descriptive method, 
with a population of 30 farmers. Research data collection techniques are 
observation, interview, questionnaire, documentation, and data analysis 
techniques in the form of percentage tables. The results of the study show that: 1. 
The area of oil palm farmers 'business is 23.3 ha which is converted into 
secondary crops, 2. The low oil palm production causes the business of oil palm 
farmers to become palawija farmers' business, 3. The low selling price of oil palm 
causes the business of oil palm farmers to become businesses palawija farmers, 4.
Changes in the farming of oil palm farmers become secondary crops farmers 
because marketing of secondary crops is easier than oil palm, 5. The low income 
of the business of oil palm farmers causes oil palm farmers to turn into palawija 
farmers.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab perubahan usaha tani dari 
petani kelapa sawit menjadi petani palawija di Desa Gedung Pakuon Kecamatan 
Baradatu Kabupaten Way Kanan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah 
metode deskriptif, dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 30 petani. Teknik 
pengumpulan data penelitian yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, 
dokumentasi, dan analisis data dalam bentuk tabel persentase. Hasil penelitian 
menunjukkan bahwa: 1. Luas lahan usaha petani kelapa sawit yaitu seluas 23,3 ha 
yang diubah menjadi petani palawija, 2. Rendahnya produksi kelapa sawit 
menyebabkan usaha petani kelapa sawit menjadi usaha petani palawija, 3. 
Rendahnya harga jual kelapa sawit menyebabkan usaha petani kelapa sawit
menjadi usaha petani palawija, 4. Perubahan usaha tani petani kelapa sawit 
menjadi petani palawija dikarenakan pemasaran hasil palawija lebih mudah 
dibandingkan dengan kelapa sawit, 5. Rendahnya pendapatan usaha petani kelapa 
sawit menyebabkan petani kelapa sawit berubah menjadi petani palawija.
