"Reading is one of the most important skills that needs to be comprehended well.\r\nHigh school students found difficulties in comprehending an English text.\r\nTherefore, in this research the researcher used mind mapping technique to\r\nincrease students’ reading comprehension ability. This research is intended to\r\nfind out whether there is significant increase of the students’ reading\r\ncomprehension ability after being taught through mind mapping technique and\r\nalso intended to find out the most and the least increase in reading aspects.\r\nThe research was quantitative which used a one group pre test- post test design.\r\nThe population of this research was the first grade students of SMAN 2 Natar of\r\nacademic year 2019/2020. There were two classes taken by purposive sampling\r\nused in this research, X MIPA 2 was the tryout class wich consisted of 30\r\nstudents and X MIPA 1 as the experimental class which consisted of 28 students.\r\nThe instrument for collecting data was multiple choice in form of reading\r\ncomprehension test. The collected data in form of scores were analyzed by using\r\nt-test in which the significance was determined by p<0.05. The research was\r\nconducted from 21st August to 6th September 2019. The instruments was reading\r\ntests.\r\nThe results of this research showed that there is a significant increase of students’\r\nreading comprehension after being taught through mind mapping technique.\r\nIt could be seen from the result which showed that the significance level of p\r\n< 0.05 (p=.000), in which the students’ mean score in the pre test was 82.36\r\nwith an increase of 95.02 in post test. It can be concluded that vocabulary is the\r\naspect of reading which increases the most and finding detail information is the\r\naspect of reading which increases the least.
