It is very important in order to make them communicate effectively trough oral language . But somehow in speaking learning the students often find some difficulties and need a good and easy technique to understand in learning process. Therefore the purpose of the research to investigate whether or not picture strip story has influence towards students` speaking ability and to find out whether or not picture strip story give positive respond in English teaching learning. The study employed one group pretest posttest design. There were two raters to judge the students` speaking performances. Repeated measure t-test was used to analyze the quantitative data and the hypothesis testing was computed using SPSS version 16.0 The result show all aspect of speaking increase, in terms of fluency, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and comprehension, in pretest students` mean score as 49,13 while in posttest it became 67,6. There are an increase in every aspect of spaking , it can be reported that students` fluency increased from 8,5 (pretest) to 13,3 (posttest) with the gain of 4,8, grammar increased from 8,1 pretest) to 13,5 (posttest) with the gain of 5,4, vocabulary increased from 9,2 (pretest) to 14,2 (posttest) with the gain gain of 5,0, pronunciation increased from 8,8 (pretest) to 13,9 (postest) with the gain of 5,1, and comprehension increased from 8,4 (pretest) to 13,00 (posttest) with the gain of 4,6. Based on the result before, it can prove that there is significant improvement in speaking ability, as we know that the score in every aspect always increase in a good number . The result of the questionnaire gave a very positive respond toward the picture strip story technique on the students speaking ability. It can be seen by score of the questionnaire. There were 8 students got score between 41-50 score with the precentage 40%, and 12 students got score between 31-40 with the precentage 60%. There were 20 students who gave a good respond toward this technique. The technique being used gives significant increase because t-ratio is higher than t-table (10.865 > 2.093). Referring to the result of the research above, it can be concluded that picture strip story can improve students` speaking ability and the positive respond that was given by the students.
