"AC atau air conditioner sering kita jumpai pada setiap rumah, ruangan, atau\r\ngedung-gedung bertingkat di zaman modern ini untuk mengkondisikan udara\r\nsecara cepat. Akan tetapi, AC atau air conditioner ini memiliki dampak negatif\r\nbaik secara langsung ataupun tidak langsung seperti pemanasan global dan juga\r\nmenghabiskan banyak energi. Oleh karena itu diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut\r\nmengenai sistem atau alat yang mampu menghemat energi pada AC dengan cara\r\nmengurangi beban pendinginannya dan memanfaatkan energi alternatif. Solusi\r\nalternatif untuk mengurangi besarnya konsumsi energi AC yaitu dengan\r\nmeningkatkan efisiensi sistem dan mengurangi besarnya beban pendinginan. Di\r\nIndonesia temperatur udara dingin pada malam hari dinilai memiliki potensi untuk\r\nmembantu mendinginkan ruangan. Salah satunya yaitu menggunakan material\r\nberubah fasa (phase change material disingkat PCM). Penelitian ini bertujuan\r\nuntuk menganalisa pengaruh temperatur udara masuk dan kecepatan udara masuk\r\nterhadap perubahan temperatur (∆T) pada phase change material serta laju\r\npendinginan PCM pada shell and tube. Hasil dari uji pembekuan PCM\r\nmenunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kecepatan udara masuk dan penurunan\r\ntemperatur udara masuk heat exchanger meningkatkan laju pendinginan pada\r\nPCM semakin tinggi. Hasil-hasil penelitian secara rinci terdapat dalam\r\npembahasan skripsi ini.\r\nKata kunci : AC, PCM, Penyimpan Termal We often encounter AC or air conditioner in every house, room, or high-rise\r\nbuilding in this modern era to condition the air quickly. However, this AC or air\r\nconditioner has a negative impact, either directly or indirectly, such as global\r\nwarming and also consumes a lot of energy. Therefore, further research is needed\r\non systems or devices that can save energy in air conditioners by reducing the\r\ncooling load and utilizing alternative energy. An alternative solution to reduce the\r\namount of AC energy consumption is to increase system efficiency and reduce the\r\namount of cooling load. In Indonesia, the cold air temperature at night is\r\nconsidered to have the potential to help cool the room. One of them is using a\r\nphase change material (PCM abbreviated). This study aims to analyze the effect of\r\nintake air temperature and intake air velocity on temperature changes (∆T) in the\r\nphase change material and PCM cooling rate on shell and tube. The results of the\r\nPCM freezing test showed that increasing the inlet air velocity and decreasing the\r\ntemperature of the heat exchanger inlet air increased the cooling rate of the PCM.\r\nDetailed research results are contained in the discussion of this thesis.\r\nKeywords: AC, PCM, Thermal Storage"^^ .
