"The use of teaching technique in teaching writing can encourage the students‘\r\nachievement and the teacher can know how the students learn by their learning\r\nstyle. Understanding students‘ personality becomes one of the success factors in\r\nlanguage learning. The objective of this research was to investigate the difference\r\nbetween students‘ writing achievement by using clustering technique and KWL\r\ntechnique, to reveal the difference of students‘ writing achievement between\r\nintrovert and extrovert students, and to find out the interaction between teaching\r\ntechniques and students‘ personality on their writing achievement. This research\r\nwas conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Jatiagung Lampung Selatan with 56 students as\r\nthe sample. Experimental research was used in this research with factorial design\r\n2x2. The data were collected using a questionnaire to classify the extrovert and\r\nintrovert students and the writing test (pretest and posttest). The result shows that\r\n(1) the students in KWL group got a higher mean score than the students in\r\nClustering group. It could be seen from t-test = 2.020>t-table = 2.004 with the\r\nsignificant level is lower than 0.05. It means that the KWL technique can help\r\nstudents improve their writing achievement. (2) the students with introverted\r\npersonalities had higher achievement in writing descriptive text than those with\r\nextroverted personalities, it could be seen from t-test = 2.317>t-table =2.004 with\r\nthe significant level <0.05. It can be confirmed that there is a difference between\r\nstudents‘ writing achievement of extrovert and introvert students. (3) the last\r\nfinding of this research indicated an interaction between the techniques and\r\nstudents‘ personality on the students writing achievement. F value of the corrected\r\nmodel is 6.621, it is higher than Ftable = 4.03 with a significant value <0.05, and\r\nthe significant value of personality*technique is 0.006<0.05. It can be said that the\r\nstudents‘ writing achievements are influenced by their personality and the use of\r\nteaching techniques. Besides, both clustering and KWL techniques contributed to\r\nteaching writing with the students‘ different personalities. KWL technique could\r\nbe applied to teaching writing, which the introvert students dominated.
