Oleh karena itu, dalam\r\npenelitian ini telah dilakukan penambahan inhibitor campuran ekstrak gambir dan\r\nasap cair tempurung kelapa grade 2 (GA) untuk mengurangi dampak negatif yang\r\nditimbulkan oleh kerak tersebut.\r\nPada penelitian ini telah dilakukan penambahan inhibitor terhadap kerak\r\nmagnesium karbonat (MgCO3) dengan menggunakan metode tanpa penambahan\r\nbibit kristal (unseeded experiment) dan dengan penambahan bibit kristal (seeded\r\nexperiment). Larutan pertumbuhan MgCO3 yang digunakan sebesar 0,050, 0,075,\r\ndan 0,100 M diinteraksikan dengan inhibitor campuran ekstrak gambir dan asap\r\ncair tempurung kelapa grade 2 (GA) dengan variasi konsentrasi. Efektifitas\r\ntertinggi terjadi pada konsentrasi larutan pertumbuhan MgCO3 0,050 M dan\r\nperbandingan konsentrasi inhibitor GA (5:9) menggunakan metode unseeded\r\nexperiment yaitu sebesar 95,41%.\r\nAnalisis menggunakan Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) menunjukkan bahwa\r\ndistribusi ukuran partikel kerak MgCO3 menjadi lebih kecil dengan adanya\r\npenambahan inhibitor. Analisis menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscopy\r\n(SEM) menunjukkan bahwa morfologi pemukaan kerak MgCO3 dengan\r\npenambahan inhibitor berubah menjadi lembaran tipis dan kecil dibandingkan\r\ndengan tanpa penambahan inhibitor yang berupa butiran. Analisis struktur kristal\r\nMgCO3 dengan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) menunjukkan perbedaan intensitas\r\ndengan penambahan inhibitor.\r\nKata Kunci : MgCO3, inhibitor, ekstrak gambir, asap cair tempurung kelapa.\r\nScale formation is a serious problem in many industries, especially in oil\r\nand gas industries. Therefore, this research focused on adding the gambier extract\r\nand liquid smoke of coconut shell grade 2 (GA) mixture as an inhibitor to reduce\r\nthe negative effects of the scale formation.\r\nIn this research, inhibitor was added to MgCO3 growth solution by using\r\nthe unseeded experiment and seeded experiment method at a concentration of\r\nMgCO3 amounted to 0.050, 0.075, and 0.100 M as well as variations in\r\nconcentration of the gambier extract and liquid smoke of coconut shell grade 2\r\nmixture (GA). The highest effectiveness occurred at a concentration of 0.050 M\r\nMgCO3 growth solution and a comparison of GA inhibitor concentration (5:9)\r\nusing the unseeded experiment method of 95.41%.\r\nParticle Size Analyzer (PSA) analysis used in this research shows that the\r\nparticle size distribution MgCO3 scale becomes smaller with the addition of\r\ninhibitors.
