Pengukiran (engraving) dilakukan pada daya laser 2,5 Watt, 5 Watt, 7,5 Watt, 10 Watt, dan 12,5 Watt. Sifat-sifat yang dievaluasi meliputi perubahan kekasaran, perubahan warna, kadar air, kerapatan, mikroskop dan preferensi konsumen. Daya laser mempengaruhi sifat kekasaran kayu sengon dan meranti, menunjukkan nilai Ra sebesar 20,80 ?m dan 19,16 ?m. Warna pada kayu sengon dan meranti, menunjukkan nilai ?E lebih dari 12 (warna berubah total). Kadar air dan kerapatan kayu sengon dan meranti yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil pengukuran kadar air kayu sengon 17,99\% dan meranti 15,44\%. Daya laser meningkatkan lebar hasil laser seringan dengan meningkatnya daya laser dapat dilihat melalui mikroskop. Analisis preferensi konsumen dengan total 100 responden mendapatkan hasil bahwa konsumen lebih menyukai hasil laser pada kayu sengon dan kayu meranti dengan daya laser 7,5 Watt di kedua jenis kayu. Kata kunci: daya laser, kayu sengon, kayu meranti, laser CO2 This study aims to determine the effect of various CO2 laser power on changes in surface roughness and surface colour of sengon wood (Paraserianthes falcataria) and meranti wood (Shorea spp). Engraving is carried out at 2.5 Watt, 5 Watt, 7.5 Watt, 10 Watt, and 12.5 Watt laser power. The properties evaluated include changes in roughness, colour changes, moisture content, density, microscopy and consumer preferences. Laser light affects the roughness of sengon and meranti wood, showing Ra values of 20.80 m and 19.16 m. The colour of sengon and meranti wood shows the value of ?E more than 12 (the colour changes completely). The moisture content and density of sengon and meranti wood used in this study were based on the results of measurements of the moisture content of 17.99\% sengon wood and 15.44\% meranti. The laser power increases the width of the laser output as much as the laser power increases can be seen through the microscope. Consumer preference analysis with 100 respondents found that consumers prefer laser results on sengon wood and meranti wood with 7.5 Watt laser power in both types of wood.
