"The aims of this research are 1) to investigate whether there is an improvement in students’\r\nspeaking achievement after being taught by Audio-Lingual Method based on contextual\r\nteaching learning, 2) to investigate the aspects of speaking improve the most after being\r\ntaught by using Audio-Lingual Method based on Contextual teaching learning, 3) to\r\ninvestigate whether there is a significant difference in speaking achievement between the\r\nextrovert and introvert students after being taught by using audio-lingual method based on\r\ncontextual teaching learning. This population was the English department students of\r\nIslamic Institutte of MA-arif NU Metro Lampung. This research applied quantitative\r\nresearch method. The data were collected through test and questionnaire. The data were\r\nanalyzed using paired sample test and independent sample t-test. The data were collected\r\nin form of recording. The result showed that 1) there was a significant improvement in\r\nstudents’ speaking achievement after being taught by using audio-lingual method based on\r\ncontextual teaching learning. The mean in speaking pre-test is 54.5 while post-test is 69.0,\r\nwith the value of sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 and it lower than 0.05. 2) Grammar aspect shows\r\nthe highest improvement with gain score is 34 compared to other aspects. 3) There was no\r\nsignificant difference of students’ speaking achievement between the extrovert and\r\nintrovert. The value of the sig.(2-tailed) is 0.469 and it is higher than 0.05. It is suggested\r\nto use audio-lingual method based on contextual teaching learning because the students are\r\ninvolved in teaching learning process, and it also makes the students easier to understand\r\nthe material delivered by the teacher. \r\nKey words: Speaking, Audio-lingual Method, Contextual Teaching Learning, Extrovert\r\nand Introvert, Audio-lingual Method Based on Contextual Teaching Learning.
