These techniques are considered monotonous and old-fashioned. This study investigates the effect of these two techniques in improving students’ pronunciation and finds out which one helps students improve better. This pre-experimental group comparison approach used paired samples t-test and independent t-test to analyse the data. Two classes of early-grade students of SMAN 1 Tanjung Bintang, in which each technique was implemented in each class, showed a significant improvement after RAT and DT were implemented. It turned out, RAT is also proven to help students’ pronunciation improve better. The advantages of using RAT and future directions are discussed.
