"The aims of this study were 1) to find out whether guided writing using color code\r\nand guided question technique in teaching writing significantly enhances students’\r\nwriting ability, 2) to find out the aspects of writing ability enhanced the most\r\nsignificantly, and 3) to find out the student's perception of the implementation of\r\nthe guided writing using color code and guided question technique. The design\r\nwas pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects of\r\nthis research were 25 students of tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kibang East\r\nLampung. The writing test was administered to collect the data, and the\r\nquestionnaire was used to find out the students’ perceptions of the techniques. The\r\nresults show that there is a significant difference between the students’ writing\r\nabilities after the implementation of the guided writing technique. It is revealed\r\nfrom the mean score of pre-test which is 53.8 and the mean score of post-test\r\nwhich is 70.16. In addition, from the sig.2 tailed, it shows that the significant level\r\nis 0.000. it means that the significant level is below 0.05. For the improvement of\r\neach aspect of writing ability, the results show that all Sig. (2-tailed) value for\r\neach aspect is < 0.05 (0.000, 0.000, 0.002, and 0.000) except for mechanics\r\n(0.198). It means that all writing aspects assessed by the researcher enhanced\r\nsignificantly from the pre-test to the post-test. For the students’ perceptions, it\r\nshowed that the students felt strongly agreed with the category that consists of\r\nstatements of enjoying discussing with friends and teacher, guided writing helps\r\nto generate and transform ideas, and the teacher helps me to know how the\r\nsentences should be arranged. The students felt that the role of the teacher is very\r\nimportant and that their presence in the session becomes the facilitator for the\r\nstudents to practice their thinking without feeling any doubts.\r\nKeywords: Guided writing, guided questions, color code, students’ writing ability."^^ .
