This quantitative study uses a pre-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 36 grade II students of SMAN 1 Terusan Nunyai XI 5. The instrument used in this study was a reading test that included five reading aspects. Data was collected through SPSS 26.0 for Windows to see the t-sample paired t-test. After extensive reading treatment, the results significantly affected reading comprehension of narrative texts. The results showed that the average score of students on the pre-test was 47.81, and the average score on the post-test was 72.72. The researcher concluded that extensive reading has a good effect and effectively improves students' reading skills.
