Ustaz juga memegang peranan penting dalam pembentukan karakter santri. Pembentukan karakter yang meliputi karakter Shidiq (Jujur), Tablig (Menyampaikan), Amanah (Dapat Dipercaya), dan Fathonah (Cerdas) ini memerlukan komunikasi interpersonal. Komunikasi interpersonal penting dalam mentransfer nilai-nilai moral dan mengembangkan karakter islami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pendekatan dan strategi kendali komunikasi interpersonal antara ustaz dan santri beserta metode dalam proses pembentukan karakter santri di Pondok Pesantren Modern Annuur Boarding School di Bandar Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ustaz melakukan pendekatan analisis tingkat kultural, sosiologis, dan psikologis dalam memahami karakter santri. Kemudian ustaz juga menerapkan strategi kendali komunikasi interpersonal berupa strategi wortel teruntai, pedang tergantung, katalisator, dan dunia khayal. Selain itu, ustaz juga menggunakan berbagai metode untuk membentuk karakter santri seperti metode keteladanan, latihan dan pembiasaan, nasihat, kedisiplinan, serta reward dan hukuman. Sehingga melalui pendekatan dan strategi kendali komunikasi interpersonal serta metode pembentukan karakter, ustaz dapat membentuk karakter santri yang shidiq, tablig, amanah, dan fathonah secara efektif. Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Interpersonal, Ustaz, Santri, Pembentukan Karakter, Pondok Pesantren Modern   ABSTRACT Islamic boarding schools are educational institutions that not only provide academic learning but also instill Islamic values in their students. The Ustaz also plays a crucial role in forming the character of students. Character formation which includes the characters Shidiq (Honest), Tablig (Convey), Amanah (Trustworthy), and Fathonah (Intelligent) requires interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication is essential in transferring moral values and developing islamic character. This research aims to analyze the approaches and strategies of interpersonal communication control between ustaz and santri, along with the methods used in the character-building process at the Annuur Boarding School, a modern islamic boarding school in Bandar Lampung. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the research show that the ustaz uses cultural, sociological, and psychological level analysis approaches to understand the students’ character. Then the ustaz also applies interpersonal communication control strategies such as the carrot dangling strategy, the suspended sword strategy, the catalyst strategy, and the imaginary world strategy. In addition, the ustz also uses various methods to shape the students’ character, such as the exemplary method, training and habituation, advice, discipline, as well as rewards and punishments. So that through interpersonal communication control approaches and strategies as well as character formation methods, the ustaz can effectively form the students’ character to be shidiq, tablig, amanah, and fathonah.
