One factor that causes this condition is the disproportion of normal flora in the skin due to colonization by Cutibacterium acnes. This study aims to evaluate the comparison of in vitro inhibitory effects of probiotic Streptococcus thermophilus, clindamycin, and erythromycin on the growth of Cutibacterium acnes. Methods: This study is a laboratory experimental study to compare the inhibition zones produced by probiotic Streptococcus thermophilus, clindamycin, and erythromycin using well diffusion method. Results: There was a significant difference in the mean diameters of inhibition zone of probiotic Streptococcus thermophilus, clindamycin, and erythromycin (p=0). Erythromycin produced the largest inhibition zone against Cutibacterium acnes with an average diameter of 31,72±2,68 mm. Furthermore, clindamycin produced the second largest inhibition zone after erythromycin with an average diameter of 30,22±1,90 mm. The smallest inhibition zone was produced by probiotic Streptococcus thermophilus with an average diameter of 15.56±0.58 mm. Conclusion: Erythromycin produced the largest inhibition zone against in vitro growth of Cutibacterium acnes compared to the inhibition zones produced by clindamycin and probiotic Streptococcus thermophilus.
