Pemerintah  Kolonial Belanda memberikan berbagai kebijakan dalam mengatur daerah  jajahannya. Berbagai kebijakan tersebut disebut dengan kebijakan kolonial.  Penerapan kebijakan kolonial yang diterapkan oleh Belanda antara Jawa dan  Suriname pernah terjadi pada tahun 1890 yakni terkait sistem migrasi yang berupa  pengiriman tenaga kerja kontrak Masyarakat Jawa ke Suriname. Tujuan dari  penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengidentifikasi tentang apa sajakah faktor penyebab  terjadinya sistem migrasi Masyarakat Jawa ke Suriname 1890. Metode yang  digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode historis yang meliputi heuristik,  kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa  Migrasi masyarakat Jawa ke Suriname tahun 1890 didukung oleh faktor pendoong  dan juga penaik. Adapun faktor pendororong didukung 3 faktor yaitu faktor  transportasi, ekonomi dan Pendidikan. Berdasarkan faktor trasnportasi migrasi  Masyarakat Jawa ke Suriname di dukung oleh tersedianya angkutan transportasi  jalur laut berupa kapal Uap. Berdasarkan aspek ekonomi migrasi masyarakat Jawa  ke Suriname di dorong oleh adanya ketersedian lapangan kerja untuk para imigran  Jawa dalam sektor Perkebunan, pertanian dan pertambangan dengan motif untuk  memperbaiki kehidupan ekonomi. Faktor pendorong migrasi Masyarakat Jawa ke  Suriname dari aspek Pendidikan yaitu didasarkan oleh keinginan Masyarakat Jawa  agar mendapatkan akses Pendidikan yang lebih baik di Suriname. Sementara dari  faktor penarik meliputi tersedianya lapangan kerja, keadaan lingkungan dan  kemajuan ditempat tujuan. Hadirnyaa berbagai faktor tersebut menjadi pendorong  terjadinya migrasi Masyarakat Jawa ke Suriname pada tahun 1890.  Kata Kunci: Kebijakan Kolonial, Masyarakat Jawa, Suriname.  The Netherlands is a European nation that has made many expansions in various  countries, one of which is in Suriname and the Dutch East Indies. The Dutch  colonial government provided various policies in regulating its colonies. These  various policies are called colonial policies. The implementation of the colonial  policy implemented by the Dutch between Java and Suriname occurred in 1890,  namely related to the migration system in the form of sending Javanese contract  workers to Suriname. The purpose of this study is to identify what are the driving  factors for the migration system of the Javanese people to Suriname in 1890. The  methods used in this study are historical methods which include heuristic, criticism,  interpretation and historiography. The results of this study show that the migration  of the Javanese people to Suriname in 1890 was supported by the fact that they  were driving and also increasing. The supporting factors are supported by 3  factors, namely transportation, economy and education. Based on the  transportation factor, the migration of the Javanese people to Suriname is  supported by the availability of sea transportation in the form of steam ships. Based  on the economic aspect, the migration of Javanese people to Suriname is  encouraged by the availability of jobs for Javanese immigrants in the plantation,  agriculture and mining sectors with the motive of improving economic life. The  driving factor for the migration of the Javanese people to Suriname from the aspect  of education is based on the desire of the Javanese people to get better access to  education in Suriname. Meanwhile, the pulling facts include the availability of a  field, the state of the environment and progress at the destination. The presence of  these various factors became the driving force for the migration of the Javanese  people to Suriname in 1890.  Keywords: Colonial Policy, Javanese society, Suriname.
