abstract: Film “Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas”, merupakan film hasil karya
Darwin, yang diproduksi pada pertengahan tahun 2021, dan ditampilkan di layar
lebar pada 2 Desember 2021. Film ini sendiri bergenre drama, romansa, action
dengan bumbu thriller dalam beberapa plotnya dan mengambil latar waktu tahun
1980-an. Film yang disutradarai oleh Darwin ini memperoleh penghargaan, dan
menjadi film panjang Indonesia pertama yang memperoleh penghargaan
internasional yaitu Golden Leopard di Locarno Film Festival yang dilaksanakan di
Swiss tahun 2021 dan penelitian ini membahas tentang pesan moral yang
disampaikan melalui Film “Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas”.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis
semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure yang terdiri dari 4 konsep, yaitu signifier
(penanda) dan signified (petanda), langue (Bahasa) dan parole (tuturan/ujaran),
Sinkronik dan diakronik, dan hubungan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik. Hasil
penelitian ini adalah film ini menggambarkan bahwa kekerasan dan balas dendam
hanya menghasilkan masalah baru. Pesan ini diperlihatkan melalui kisah Ajo Kawir
yang mengalami penyakit impoten dan berjuang untuk menunjukkan bahwa,
seluruh manusia layak diberi kesempatan kedua, kemudian kekerasan dan balas
dendam hanya menghasilkan masalah baru, sekaligus menjelaskan bagaimana toxic
maskulinitas dalam konstruksi masyarakat.
Kata Kunci: Pesan Moral, Analisis semiotika Ferdinad de Saussure, Film “Seperti
Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas”, Penanda dan Petanda, Bahasa dan ujaran,

THE MORAL MESSAGE IN THE FILM “SEPERTI DENDAM
RINDU HARUS DI BAYAR TUNTAS”

ABSTRACT
The film "Vengeance is Mine, All Others Pay Cash", is a film produced by Darwin,
which was produced in mid-2021, and shown on the big screen on December 2
2021. This film itself has the genre of drama, romance, action with thriller spices
in some of its plots and set in the 1980s. This film, directed by Darwin, received an
award, and became the first Indonesian feature film to receive an international
award, namely the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival which was held
in Switzerland in 2021 and this research discusses the moral message conveyed
through the film " Vengeance is Mine, All Others Pay Cash." This research is
qualitative research using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic analysis method which
consists of 4 concepts, namely signifier and signified, langue and parole,
synchronic and diachronic, and syntagmatic and paradigmatic. The result of this
research is that this film depicts that violence and revenge only produce new
problems. This message is shown through the story of Ajo Kawir who experienced
impotence and struggled to show that all humans deserve to be given a second
chance, then violence and revenge only produce new problems, while also
explaining how toxic masculinity is in the construction of society.
