Populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 22 Bandar Lampung semester genap tahun pelajaran 2023/2024 yang terdistribusi dalam sepuluh kelas yaitu VIII-1 sampai VIII-10. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling dan terpilih siswa kelas VIII-6 sebanyak 32 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-10 sebanyak 31 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian ini berupa data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik yaitu uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mengikuti model problem based learning lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian, model problem based learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Kata kunci: kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, pengaruh, problem based learning This research aims to determine the effect of the problem based learning model on improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The population in this study was all students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 22 Bandar Lampung, even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, distributed in ten classes, namely VIII-1 to VIII-10, heterogeneously. Sampling was carried out using a cluster random sampling technique, and 32 students in class VIII-6 were selected as the experimental class and 31 students in class VIII-10 were selected as the control class. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. This research data is in the form of quantitative data obtained from tests of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Data analysis uses a statistical test, namely the t-test. Based on the results of research, it was found that the increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the experimental class was higher than the increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the control class. Based on this, it can be concluded that the problem based learning model has an effect on improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
