"Torefaksi merupakan proses pemanasan biomassa pada temperatur 200- 300°C\r\ntanpa oksigen atau dengan oksigen terbatas. Salah satu jenis reaktor torefaksi\r\nyaitu adalah reaktor rotary drum. Reaktor rotary drum memiliki mekanisme\r\nbiomassa yang masuk ke dalam reaktor bergerak dari ujung ke ujung drum seiring\r\nberputarnya drum. Dalam penelitian ini reaktor rotary drum yang akan dirancang\r\nmenggunakan tipe pemanas langsung (direct heating). Reaktor ini dirancang\r\nberdasarkan masalah timbulan sampah yang terjadi di Tempat Pembuangan\r\nSampah Terpadu (TPST) Universitas Lampung (UNILA). Timbulan yang\r\ndihasilkan sebesar 770 kg per harinya. Dengan mempertimbangkan timbulan\r\nsampah tersebut, reaktor yang akan dirancang memiliki kapasitas 67 kg/jam.\r\nDrum yang dirancang memiliki diameter 0,987 m dan panjang 3,5 m. Daya total\r\nyang dibutuhkan reaktor rotary drum yang dirancang untuk melakukan proses\r\ntorefaksi adalah sebesar 10,23 kW. Dimana 0,84 kW untuk proses pre heating,\r\n4,21 kW untuk proses drying dan 5,17 kW untuk proses post drying. Adapun heat\r\nloss selama proses torefaksi yaitu sebesar 0,637 kW. Reaktor ini menggunakan\r\nsumber daya berupa elektromotor yang memiliki daya 2 HP dan kecepatan putar\r\n900 RPM.\r\n\r\nKata kunci: torefaksi, rotary drum, desain reaktor\r\nTorrefaction is the process of heating biomass at a temperature of 200-300°C\r\nwithout oxygen or with limited oxygen. One type of torrefaction reactor is the\r\nrotary drum reactor. The rotary drum reactor operates with a mechanism where\r\nthe biomass enters the reactor and moves from one end of the drum to the other as\r\nthe drum rotates. In this study, the rotary drum reactor being designed uses direct\r\nheating. The reactor is designed based on the waste problem occurring at the\r\nIntegrated Waste Disposal Site of the University of Lampung (UNILA), which\r\ngenerates 770 kg of waste per day. Considering this waste output, the reactor\r\nbeing designed has a capacity of 67 kg/hour. The designed drum has a diameter of\r\n0.987 meters and a length of 3.5 meters. The total power required by the designed\r\nrotary drum reactor for the torrefaction process is 10.23 kW, with 0.84 kW for the\r\n\r\npre-heating process, 4.21 kW for the drying process, and 5.17 kW for the post-\r\ndrying process. The heat loss during the torrefaction process is 0.637 kW.
