N2  - Sungai menjadi sumber utama air tawar yang dapat digunakan untuk berbagai jenis
kebutuhan organisme sekitar sungai. Penurunan kualitas air sungai dapat
dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas kehidupan manusia di sekitar aliran air sungai yang
berdampak pada ekosistem dan kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk menganalisis status mutu air sungai dengan menggunakan indeks kualitas
air (IKA) sebagai parameter utama Fecal coli yang terdapat di Sungai Way Besai.
Titik pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 6 titik lokasi / stasiun Sungai Way
Besai. Sampel air dianalisis meliputi 3 (tiga) parameter utama yaitu fisika, kimia,
dan biologi dengan 8 (delapan) parameter meliputi pH, DO, BOD, COD, TTS,
nitrat, T-fosfat, dan Escherichia coli. Hasil analisis menunjukkan sebagian besar
parameter berada di bawah ambang baku mutu sesuai dengan Peraturan
Pemerintah Nomor 22 Tahun 2021, kecuali fecal coliform di stasiun 4.
Berdasarkan analisis Indeks Pencemaran (IP) di Sungai Way Besai pada stasiun
1,2,3,5 dan 6 memenuhi baku mutu, sedangkan pada stasiun 4 tergolong tercemar
ringan. Hasil analisis Indeks Kualitas Air (IKA) pada Sungai Way Besai tergolong
tercemar ringan dengan nilai IKA = 66,6.

Rivers are the main source of fresh water that can be used for various types of
organisms around the river. The decline in river water quality can be influenced by
human activities around the river flow which have an impact on the ecosystem and
public health. This study aims to analyze the status of river water quality using the
water quality index (IKA) as the main parameter and the Fecal coli found in the
Way Besai River. Sampling points were carried out at 6 locations / stations on the
Way Besai River. Water samples were analyzed covering 3 (three) main
parameters, namely physics, chemistry, and biology with 8 (eight) parameters
including pH, DO, BOD, COD, TTS, nitrate, T-phosphate, and Escherichia coli.
The results of the analysis showed that most of the parameters were below the
quality standard threshold according to Government Regulation Number 22 of
2021, except for fecal coliform at station 4. Based on the analysis of the Pollution
Index (IP) in the Way Besai River at stations 1,2,3,5 and 6 met the quality
standards, while at station 4 it was classified as lightly polluted. The results of the
Water Quality Index (IKA) analysis in the Way Besai River are classified as
lightly polluted with an IKA value of 66.6.
