This is a quantitative study that employs one-group pretest- posttest design. The subjects of this study were 32 students from SMA Muhammadiyah Pringsewu in grade XII MIPA 1. The instrument of the research was a reading test that assessed four standards of critical thinking. The data was collected using SPSS 23 for Windows to conduct the paired sample t-test. The findings revealed that after the implementation of collaborative strategic reading, students' critical reading improved significantly. According to the results, the pre- test average score for students was 62.00, and the post-test average score was 80.50. Based on the result, it can be concluded that collaborative strategic reading has a positive impact and is a useful strategy for enhancing students' critical reading.
