This study's population consisted of second-year SMAN 1 Way Jepara students. The total number of participants in this research was 27 students. The researcher uses qualitative methodology to compare the mean score of pre-test and post-test. The treatment session conducted categorized the vocabulary in a text (noun, verb, adjective, adverb) and then the implementation of crossword puzzle. The entire pre-test mean score was 29,37, and the mean score of post-tests was 45,59, indicating a considerable improvement in students' vocabulary proficiency throughout the length of the test period. In summary, crossword puzzles help students to arrange vocabulary with trigger their vocabulary knowledge by reading the hints, and research demonstrates that crossword puzzles as a learning media improve vocabulary at second year students?
