The background stems from students' limited vocabulary, low confidence, and difficulty understanding French texts. Using a quasi-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest, the study involved 33 students. Data collection used multiple-choice and matching tests, along with questionnaires. Results show a significant increase from the average pretest score (44.24) to the posttest score (88.64). Students reported improved vocabulary, better collaboration, and more critical thinking. The IBL model allowed students to actively explore, hypothesize, and draw conclusions independently. However, limitations included time constraints and students? initial unfamiliarity with inquiry-based activities. Despite this, the model aligns well with the Merdeka Curriculum?s goal of fostering independent learning. The study concludes that IBL is an effective, student-centered approach to improving comprehension and recommends its broader use in foreign language education.
