The study was motivated by students’ difficulties in understanding French texts, as evidenced by low reading comprehension performance and lack of engagement. The research employed a classroom action research design, involving cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension abilities. The average pretest score was 56.82, while the average posttest score increased to 88.64 after the implementation of the Problem Based Learning. This indicates an increase of 31.82 points. The findings demonstrate that the application of the PBL model significantly enhances students’ critical thinking, motivation, and ability to comprehend and summarize French texts. Problem Based Learning approach encourages active participation, collaborative problem-solving, and the transfer of knowledge to new contexts, resulting in notable improvements in students’ reading comprehension skills. Overall, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model is proven to be effective in improving French reading comprehension skills among 11th-grade students at SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung.
