Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan spektrofotometer inframerah (IR) untuk mengidentifikasi gugus fungsional dan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) untuk mengetahui morfologi permukaan. Hasil analisis adsorben HAS dan HAS-magnetit dengan spektrofotometer IR menunjukkan bahwa sintesis telah berhasil dilakukan yang ditandai dengan adanya pita serapan pada bilangan gelombang 2931,80 cm-1 berasal dari vibrasi ulur C-H dari (-CH2) alifatik dari biomassa alga Chaetoceros sp. Uji adsorpsi pada adsorben dilakukan dengan menggunakan larutan monologam, pasangan ion dan multilogam. Kadar ion logam dianalisis dengan spektrofotometer serapan atom (SSA). Data adsorpsi monologam dan multilogam oleh adsorben biomassa alga Chaetoceros sp, HAS, dan HAS-magnetit megikuti urutan sebagai berikut: ion Pb(II){\ensuremath{>}}Cd(II){\ensuremath{>}}Zn(II){\ensuremath{>}}Cu(II){\ensuremath{>}}Ni(II). Desorpsi ion logam pada alga Chaetoceros sp, HAS, HAS-magnetit dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendesorpsi air dan larutan Na2EDTA menghasilkan jumlah ion logam terdesorpsi dengan urutan sebagai berikut: Zn(II) {\ensuremath{>}} Cd(II ){\ensuremath{>}} Cu(II) {\ensuremath{>}} Ni(II) {\ensuremath{>}} Pb(II). Kata kunci: adsorpsi, alga Chaetoceros sp, HAS, dan HAS-magnetit (In this research it has been conducted synthesis of silica algae hybrid adsorbent (HAS) and HAS-magnetite derived from Chaetoceros sp algae biomass. The synthesis results were characterized by infrared (IR) spectrophotometry to identify functional groups and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to analyze the surface morphology. The Results of the analysis of the adsorbent HAS and HAS-magnetite with IR spectrophotometer demonstrated the synthesis was performed successfully marked by the presence of the absorption bands of wavenumbers 2931.80 cm-1 indicating the stretching vibration of C-H from (-CH2) aliphatic of Chaetoceros sp algae biomass . The adsorption test on adsorbent was carried out using solution of monometal, ion pairs and multimetal. The concentrations of metal ions were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). The data of monometal absorption and multimetal by Chaetoceros sp of algae biomass, HAS, and HAS-magnetite follow these orders: Pb(II){\ensuremath{>}}Cd (II){\ensuremath{>}}Zn(II){\ensuremath{>}}Cu(II){\ensuremath{>}}Ni (II) ion. Desorption of metal ion on Chaetoceros sp algae, HAS, HAS-magnetite was done by using water and Na2EDTA solution produced a number of metal ion desorption following these orders : Zn(II){\ensuremath{>}}Cd(II){\ensuremath{>}} Cu(II){\ensuremath{>}}Ni(II){\ensuremath{>}}Pb(II).
