This research was conducted at SMA YP Unila Bandar Lampung. The sample of this research was students of eleven grade, class XI ISOS 3. The study employed T-Test design by giving pretest, three treatments, and posttest. The speaking test applied asking and giving arguments to collect data. There were two raters to score students? speaking performance. By comparing the result of pre-test and posttest, it shows that there is an improvement of the students? speaking ability after being taught through Talking Chips Technique. The total score increase from 1916 in pre-test to 2346 in posttest. It meant that the total score from pre-test to posttest increase 430 points. In order to see which aspect of speaking improves the most, the researcher see form the mean score improvement of each aspect. The highest increase is comprehension (3.2). The second is vocabulary (2.7), then fluency (2.6), pronunciation (2.4), and the lowest improvement is grammar (2.3). The result of the computation shows that T-value (12.000) is bigger than T-table (2.093) with the level of significance under 0.05. It means that H1 of the hypothesis is accepted, there is a significant improvement of students? speaking ability after being taught through Talking Chips Technique.} }
