BY USING SUBSTITUTION AND CUED RESPONSE DRILLS
AT FIRST GRADE OF SMP N 10 BANDAR LAMPUNGThis research is intended to find out whether there was a significant increase of
students’ vocabulary achievement after being taught by using substitution and
cued response drills. Substitution and cued response drills are used as the
techniques which are considered useful in increasing students’ vocabulary
achievement.
This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 10 Bandar Lampung and applied one
group pre-test post-test design with he subject of this research was VII C consists
of 38 students.
Based on the calculation, the result shows that substitution and cued response
drills techniques has impact of students’ vocabulary achievement. The mean score
of pre-test was 58.42 and in post-test was 80.98, the gain was up to 22.56 points.
The T-test also reveals that the result is significant (p < 0.05, p=0.000). According
to the result of the increase of vocabulary aspects, the highest increase was
reached by noun. Thus, it is concluded that there is a significant increase before
and after post test, and substitution and cued response drills has a better impact on
students’ vocabulary achievement.Diena Yashinta Yumidin
