KARAKTERISTIK TERMAL (DTA-TGA) DAN KONDUKTIVITAS TERMAL
BAHAN KERAMIK CORDIERITE BERBASIS SILIKA SEKAM PADIABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan alumina
terhadap karakteristik termal (DTA-TGA) dan konduktivitas termal. Silika
diperoleh dari sekam padi melalui metode sol-gel, sedangkan alumina dan
magnesium berasal dari Sigma-Aldrich. Cordierite disintesis melalui metode
padatan dengan suhu sintering 1200oC. Hasil Pengukuran menunjukan bahwa
karakterisasi dengan Differensial Thermal Analysis (DTA) pada sampel C0
menunjukkan adanya puncak eksoterm di suhu 694oC dan C10 di suhu 649,9 oC,
yang menandakan terbentuknya fasa christobalite dari sekam padi dan fasa
spinel. Hasil konduktivitas termal C10 cukup tinggi, yaitu 12,97 W/mK
disebabkan sampel sudah mulai homogen.

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of alumina on the physical
characteristics, microstructure, and electrical conductivity of cordierite. Silica
obtained from rice husk through sol-gel method, while alumina and magnesium
were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich. Cordierite was synthesized by the solid state
method and sintered at 1200°C. The measurement results revealed that the
addition of alumina on cordierite reduced density and increased porosity. The
Differensial Thermal Analysis (DTA) at 694oC for C0 and 649,9oC for C10 showed
that there is cristobalite phase of rice husk and spinel phase has also been
established. The results of the thermal conductivity C10 is high at 12.97 W/mK
because a sample is homogeneous.
