Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
This study is aimed at (1) finding out whether there is an increase of students’ speaking achievement after being taught through Story Completion technique at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung and (2) finding out the students’ aspect of speaking increases the most after being taught through Story Completion technique at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung. To achieve that goal, the researcher carried out quantitative study with one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was second grade students of SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung to be chosen one class 8L as a sample by using random sampling. The number of the students was 25 students. The instrument of this research was a speaking test which was story completion with recording. This research also provided content and construct validity, and also inter-rater reliability to measure the consistency of test. The results of data analysis showed there was an increase of students’ speaking achievement after being taught through Story Completion technique. Then, comprehensibility increased the most than the other aspects. Hypothesis test showed that the significance value (2- tailed) was 0.000 (p<0.05). It could be concluded that null-hypothesis was rejected. The researcher inferred that students were interested to learn speaking with Story Completion technique and Story Compeltion technique could increase students’ speaking in all aspects especially in comprehensibility.
