Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) perbandingkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman melon pada beberapa tingkat pemberian air irigasi, (2) Menentukan tingkat pemberian air yang optimum untuk pertumbuhan dan kualitas buah melon, (3) menganalisis hubungan antara pemberian air terhadap total padatan terlarut pada buah melon. Tanaman yang digunakan adalah tanaman melon (Cucumis melo L). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam rumah plastik, area penelitian berada di Laboratorium Rekayasa Sumber Daya Air dan Lahan, Laboratorium Rekayasa Bioproses dan Pasca Panen, dangreen house Jurusan Teknik Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni sampai dengan Agustus 2015. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan empat taraf perlakuan irigasi defisit, yaitu M1 irigasi defisit 40% ETc, M2 60% ETc, M3 80% ETc, dan kondisi normal 100% ETc. Perlakuan dilakukan setelah tanaman melon berbuah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa irigasi defisit dapat menghambat pertumbuhan dan menurunkan produksi buah. Pemberian air irigasi yang optimum terdapat pada perlakuan M2 yang memiliki produktifitas air yaitu satu mm air akan menghasilkan buah sebesar 1,19 g/mm dan memiliki kandungan padatan terlarut (KPT) sebesar 10,04 °brix,irigasi defisit dapat meningkatkan kandungan padatan terlarut (KPT), suhu permukaan daun, meningkatkan nilai Leaf Water Potential (LWP). Kata Kunci : Irigasi Defisit, melon (Cucumis Melo L), kandungan padatan terlarut (KPT), LeafWaterPotential(LWP). The research was conducted in a plastic house, the Laboratory ofLand andWater Resources Engineering, and the Postharvest and Bioprocess Engineering Lab, Agricultural Engineering Department, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung which was donefrom June until August 2015. This research was conductedatfour levels ofdeficitirrigation, namelyM1irrigationdeficit 40% ETc, M260% ETc, M380ETc, andnormal 100% ETc. The treatmentwas doneafterfruitingmelonplants. The results showedthatdeficitirrigationcan inhibit the growthand lowerfruit production.The provision of waterirrigation treatments are optimal on M2 has water productivity namely one mm water will produce fruit of 1,19 g and has a soluble solids content (KPT) of 10.04 °brix, deficitirrigationcanincrease the content ofsoluble solids (KPT), the temperature of leavessurface, the value ofLeafWaterPotential(LWP).
